Arun Sharma V Stephen Seel

This is a club friendly played between two club regulars,it was an equal game until move 15 where Black played a less than good move which would have given White a good advantage, however, instead he immediately blundered and Black then took advantage and obtained a winning attack.

Two from Julius and Richard

Here are two more games from the recent Oban Congress, the first is another well annotated game from Julius and the second is another from Richard. I think these really are wonderful games and show the high standard of both these players.

And now for Richards game, no annotations, a man of few words but he lets the pieces do the talking!:

Julius Schwartz in Oban

We now have two well annotated games played by Julius in round one and three of the Oban Open, they are a loss and a draw, excellent games.

And now for the second game, again, very well annotated so I would recommend playing through the analysis to get the true value of this game:

Richard in Oban

In this game Black had a slight advantage, and never less than equal throughout, however,Richard mentioned that his opponent had very little time left when he sprang a final tactic on him, a very neat end to a good game.
I have not added notes as I have not the ability and using an engine to add loads of variations would take away from the game I think, see for yourself:

Kai Pannwitz in Dundee

I have found a game from the recent Dundee Congress that was played by Kai in the Major event, his win is against a much higher rated opponent and is a very impressive game indeed.

A Game from the Past

This was a game played between our then Club Champion, Gregory Faryno, and our opening specialist of the time, David Cumming. It is well annotated so should be an intersting game to follow, White Wins this game.
We are all waiting for the results to come in from Andrew Newton,s games from Brazil, Andrew is playing for the Scottish under-18 team. I will post any games Andrew brings back from this event.

This was an excellent event run by e2-e4 chess who run first class tournaments in top hotel venues, this tournament was held in the Crown Plaza Hotel.
This was my round one game:

David Cumming Correspondence Game

This is an archive photo of David in his favourite pose, enjoying a pint and a game of chess!.
The following game is another of his web based internationals and he has added his own notes to a very interesting game.

Andrew Newton in Grangemouth Rnd 5

I have not added notes to any of the following games of Andrews because it will be more enjoyable if you play through them yourself and try and work out all the ideas.
Andrew went over this game with me at the club and I felt it was a brilliant game played against a player 400+ points higher than him, it would take away from the game if I added computer assisted notes, which I would have to as I still havent a clue what went on!.

Andrew Newton in Grangemouth Rnd 4

What a game this turns out to be, he now beats another higher graded player, again 268 points higher than him,it makes me feel a lot better about losing to him every month in the clubs Blitz!.

Andrew Newton in Grangemouth Rnd 3

In this game Andrew is playing the highest graded player he has met, an IM no less. I spoke to him about his thoughts at the time and he said he just played to enjoy the game, it certainly looked like he did,I think :D
Next!!

Andrew Newton in Grangemouth Rnd 2

This is a good win against a very experienced opponent who is graded 286 points higher than Andrew.

Kai Pannwitz V Andrew Newton (Summer Allegro)

On Wednesday club night we had two Allegro games, this one and another between Robert Rough and Richard Birkett, the latter is adjourned as time ran out.
The following game was a quiet start and then it all kicked off!, both the players have played for Scotland in Junior Internationals and will be again in the coming weeks.

Kai Pannwitz in the Glorney Cup

Kai played a good game here but missed a couple of tactical moves that would have decided the game, however, he played a very good endgame and finished in style.

Glorney Cup 2011

Here is a game played in the Glorney Cup in Ireland by Kai, he has played well for the Scottish Under 12 team,as they all did!.This is his 2nd tournament in two weeks, and he still has three to go before his holidays are over. I hope to post more of his games from the coming tournaments.
{a nice finish by 10 year old Kai.} 0-1

Scottish CCA Championships 2011

This game was played in Correspondence Chess by David Cumming, we have a couple of his games on this blog and as they are quality games that required a lot of study I thought we could enjoy this one.

Another Allegro Game

This was a game between our top seeded player and our youngest tournament player, who is on "tour" at the moment taking part in various events during the summer holidays, more news as it happens!.
The grading difference appears huge but as we know to our cost in Inverness Chess Club, Kai,s grade is going up weekly!.
Experience won out in the following game but it was a good effort none the less.

An informative game from David Cumming

This is another game from David who was kind enough to provide this interesting Petroff with analysis.I am hoping to post more of Davids Internet games in the future.

Internet Game

This game was played on an internet site I had not heard of ChessHere.com . The White player is David Cumming, a member off the chess club who has been unable to visit the club for some time and so feeds his chess addiction by playing online!
Black played a very unusual variation and White gets a very strong position in the opening, however,as the game progresses White misses a few opportunities to increase the pressure and Black gets near to equality until his 23 move.
The ending is very smooth.

Summer Allegro,another round 1 game

This game was interesting in as much as I had,nt played the Sicilian before and certainly not V Andrew,s opening, however,it turned out to be an intersting game to study for both of us.
There were missed chances for both players but we both enjoyed the arising positions from this game.
I hope to post other round 1 games soon from Richard Birkett and David Newton.
