This is an archive photo of David in his favourite pose, enjoying a pint and a game of chess!. The following game is another of his web based internationals and he has added his own notes to a very interesting game.
I have not added notes to any of the following games of Andrews because it will be more enjoyable if you play through them yourself and try and work out all the ideas. Andrew went over this game with me at the club and I felt it was a brilliant game played against a player 400+ points higher than him, it would take away from the game if I added computer assisted notes, which I would have to as I still havent a clue what went on!.
What a game this turns out to be, he now beats another higher graded player, again 268 points higher than him,it makes me feel a lot better about losing to him every month in the clubs Blitz!.
In this game Andrew is playing the highest graded player he has met, an IM no less. I spoke to him about his thoughts at the time and he said he just played to enjoy the game, it certainly looked like he did,I think :D Next!!
On Wednesday club night we had two Allegro games, this one and another between Robert Rough and Richard Birkett, the latter is adjourned as time ran out.
The following game was a quiet start and then it all kicked off!, both the players have played for Scotland in Junior Internationals and will be again in the coming weeks.
The club would not exist without the generous sponsorship of the Chieftain Hotel which provided finance and continues to provide an excellent venue free of charge.
Thanks also go to Royal Mail who also provided financial help to get the club started.
Finally, thank you to Andrew Dunbarwho has helped so much in setting up our website, and continues do so!, and everyone who comes along and uses the club to play and coach chess to anyone who visits!.
