Porto Mannu 2009

The game was played with little hope of a result from me given the grading difference (my grading here is an Italian grade),however,it taught me the importance of opening homework at these events. It also taught me that I need to look more at opening themes rather than particular move orders,a lesson that many club players at my level forget.

Moh Asham Abdul Satar V Andrew Newton

In this game White has played an Anti Kings Indian variation in which the middle game was very accurate. It was played in the WYCC in Turkey

Igor Zamorski V Samuel Williams 2009

This was a Ladder game played by two Juniors from our club and is an interesting game given the age of the players, fearless!. The Opening is a Hungarian Defence,I think?.

Andrew Newton @ Marymass Congress 2009

This is a sharp game with quite a few tactical ideas, the opening is a Queens Gambit Declined.

Gibraltar Chess Festival 2007

I played this opening not really knowing the theory but now there is a good book out on the whole set up, The Black Lion .I find most higher graded opponents refuse to exchange the Queen and I have to play Philidors Defence, which I also like.

Grangemouth Congress 2006

Gregory is another strong club player who won the Championship two years in a row.He is playing the Trompofsky Attack in this game.

Hawick Chess Congress

David is well known at the club for his opening knowledge and his grade does not reflect his standard of play!.
He was playing a French Defence this time
